  1. History of the College

The idea of establishing an institution for training of Health workers was conceived by a young fore-sighted medical Doctor David Iorshagher Maor and his loving wife, Mrs. Comfort Maor. Dr Maor’s experience as a medical Doctor exposed him to a gross lack of Health personnel in our ruler communities. He was thus driven by this force to establish College of Health Technology Aliade. This dream became a reality on 12th July, 2010 when the first set of seventy-one students were matriculated marking the official commencement of the College. The college started at Julia Mega Secondary School Aliade as its temporary site.

On 1st January 2013, it was registered with Benue State Ministry of Health Makurdi with Registration number MOH/P/D/II. Similarly on the 16th October, 2015, the College was incorporated with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under the companies and allied matters act 1990 with registration number 1293293. More importantly on the 14th December 2017, the College signed a Memorandum of understanding with Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi for training of Community Health Extension Workers, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Health Information Management among several other courses.

The major breakthrough of the institution was on the 8th March 2018 when the College was accredited by Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Abuja. Based on the foregoing, our 1st sets of students were successfully indexed by Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria on 30th January, 2019.

Determined to expand in her academic programs. The College applied to Medical Laboratory Science Council Nigeria (MLSCN) for approval of Department of Medical Laboratory Science. In response to the application, the MLSCN sent a high-powered resource verification team to the College from 8th to 10th May 2019. Following the resource verification visit, Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria granted approval to the Department of Medical Laboratory Science on 29th July, 2019 through a letter signed by Mr. Erhabor Tosan, acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer.

To consolidate on the existing achievements and promote quality training of students, the College signed a Memorandum of understanding with Federal Medical Centre Makurdi on 9th September, 2019. The cheering news came on 29th September, 2021 when the first set of Community Health Students successfully completed their National Examination making the first batch of students who graduated from the College. Government recognition and Accreditation of various courses led to the growth of the College in structure and its programmes.
