The College Clinic
The college has a health clinic that renders medical services to both staff and students of the college. All new students MUST undergo medical test of fitness on entry into the college upon payment of prescribed fee in the clinic. Students are also required to register in the clinic and obtain an out-patient card so as to benefit from the services of the clinic.
The clinic treats students free of charge and award minimal charges to members of host community. The official working hours of the clinic staff is 8:00am to 5:00pm daily. However, students who are sick outside these working hours should go to the clinic and the medical officer on call on duty would be contacted to come and handle the case(s). it should be noted that the clinic treats only minor ailments like fever, headache, wound cut etc. serious illness that requires operations and more complicated cases would be referred to other specialist hospitals for treatment. The students will bear the cost of treatment outside the college.
REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE USE OF THE COLLEGE CLINIC.
- It is compulsory that students shall register in the clinic every semester.
- Students are required to treat clinic staff with respect and understanding.
- Noise making within and around the clinic is prohibited.
- Unauthorized removal of items in the clinic is NOT allowed.
- The clinical staff will attend only to students that are on queue and orderly.
- It is an offence for one or a group of students to put undue pressure on clinical staff.
- Students should also note that during treatment, the clinical staff takes instructions from the chief medical officer; orders from students shall not be obeyed, but considered as a form of misconduct.
- The college attends to medical issues, spiritual and psychological problems shall be referred to appropriate places handling such cases.
